About us

Our Story

Roshneescrochetnook celebrates Dube the Zebra or iDube in Zulu. In African culture the Zebra is a totem animal, described as an iridescent and glittering creature. Dube the humble Zebra also symbolizes the power of embracing opposites, individuality, and the paradoxes that define life. With its striking black-and-white striped coat, Dube the Zebra wears a visible reminder that life is not about choosing between extremes, but rather about finding harmony between them.

Our Founder

Roshnee is a master of fiber art technique, conjuring up bespoke interlocking stitches to make beautiful plushies. Her current project celebrates Dube the humble zebra, instantly recognizable no matter where you are in the world. Dube the Zebra is a celebration of family, and to Roshnee, family is everything. Roshnee learned how to crochet from her late maternal grandmother, Egenia, who was an ever-present teacher and protective figure of her childhood and in many ways, this project is an ode to her grandmother.
